Welcome to my virtual classroom! This is where I blog about teaching, working with kids, collaborating with fellow educators, and other insights on the field of education.

I have been teaching since 2008, and have experienced both e-Learning and working in a real classroom. I currently teach wonderful second graders in rural New Mexico.

Although elementary is most certainly my preferred niche, I would also love to teach college level education classes one day.

About Accio Minerva

I am obviously a huge Potterhead. This blog was inspired by Professor Minerva McGonagall, who taught Transfiguration and later became headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Accio Minerva is a quick play of words to express the kind of passion for knowledge Professor McGonagall had for her class, as well as her adventurous teaching spirit, and how I try everyday to practice the same kind of learning environment in my own classroom.

"We teachers are rather good at magic, you know."

I may not be an animagus like the Professor, but I try everyday to transform into the kind of teacher I have always dreamed of having as a student, which I now have the opportunity to give my own class.
